Federal Student Loans

You must be at least half‐time (3+ credit hour enrollment) to be eligible to receive Federal Student Loans. Federal loans will automatically be offered to eligible students that submit a FAFSA. Loan Exit Counseling is required upon graduation or when a student’s enrollment status drops to less‐than‐half time or the student completely withdraws. Loan fees may be deducted from each loan disbursement.

NOTE: Loan offers are subject to annual and aggregate loan limits. Please see studentaid.gov to review your current outstanding Federal Loan balance, and for more detailed information on different Federal student loan programs available.

Federal Graduate Unsubsidized Loan
This loan has a maximum academic year amount of $20,500 ($10,250/semester). It is recommended that you only accept the amount that you need for educational expenses, rather than the full amount offered. You can request an increase later, if you'd like.

Federal Graduate Plus Loans
This loan is based on credit approval, and is used when a the Graduate Unsubsidized Loan eligibility has been exhausted. The PLUS Loan rate is generally higher than that of the Graduate Unsubsidized Loan. Students may only request a PLUS loan on the Federal Student Aid website.
