International Travel
If you plan to use your ULS-issued account while traveling or living outside the United States, you must notify ULS IT in advance. This applies to international travel as well as long-term or permanent residency outside the U.S.
Your account may be locked if we detect that it has been accessed from another country and you have not notified us in advance. Restoring access will require us to verify your identity, which may be difficult while you are traveling.

Why are we doing this?
Cyberattacks against institutions of all sizes continue to increase in frequency and sophistication, and ULS is not immune. On average, we see 87 failed login attempts from overseas locations each day. On some days there are only a few; on others, there are hundreds.
A single compromised account can put both individual information and ULS systems at risk. Knowing when members of our community are legitimately accessing their accounts internationally helps us distinguish authorized activity from potential security threats.
Before traveling internationally, please use the form above to report your travel dates and destination. This will allow ULS IT to recognize international logins associated with your travel.
If you currently live outside the United States and have an active ULS-issued account, please complete the form so that we can create an appropriate exception for the country where you live. If you travel to another country, you will need to submit the form again for that travel period.
Please remember that phones, tablets, and other portable devices connected to your ULS account may attempt to access ULS systems automatically when they connect to a data network. Even if you do not plan to actively use your ULS account while traveling, you should either report your travel or log out of the account on those devices before leaving the country.
If international access has not been reported, your account may be locked until ULS IT can establish verifiable contact with you and confirm that the activity is legitimate.
This requirement applies to everyone with a ULS-issued account.
If you are sponsoring or leading an international trip, please ask all ULS participants to complete the form individually before departure. At this time, we cannot accept bulk submissions.
Thank you for helping us protect your account and ULS systems and resources.
